Powder coating Incharge

Job Description

The Powder Coating Incharge is responsible for managing the entire powder coating department, including pre-treatment, coating, curing, quality control, manpower allocation, material handling, and maintenance. The role ensures high-quality finishing, efficient production flow, and adherence to safety and process standards.

Responsibility

1. Department Management
Oversee daily operations of the powder coating line (manual/automatic).
Assign tasks to painters, helpers, mixers, and inspection staff.
Ensure production targets are achieved while maintaining quality and efficiency.
Monitor manpower utilization and coordinate shift planning.
2. Powder Coating Process Control
Supervise pre-treatment operations (degreasing, phosphating, drying, masking).
Ensure correct powder application thickness and uniform finish.
Monitor curing process: oven temperature, timing, and loading pattern.
Check and adjust powder coating booth settings, spray guns, and powder flow.
3. Quality Assurance
Inspect coated parts for coverage, surface finish, adhesion, and colour accuracy.
Identify defects such as orange peel, pinholes, uneven coating, and overspray.
Ensure rework is handled efficiently without delaying production.
Maintain finishing quality as per customer specifications.
4. Material Handling & Inventory
Monitor powder inventory, shade availability, and daily consumption.
Coordinate with stores for material requisition and stock planning.
Ensure proper storage of powders to avoid contamination and moisture.
5. Equipment Maintenance
Ensure regular cleaning and maintenance of spray guns, booths, filters, conveyors, and ovens.
Coordinate with maintenance team for breakdowns or preventive maintenance.
Ensure safety and proper working of electrical heaters, blowers, and curing systems.
6. Process Improvements
Propose improvements in the coating process to reduce rejection and rework.
Implement best practices for powder utilization and energy efficiency.
Optimize workflow for faster cycle time and better finish consistency.
7. Safety & Compliance
Enforce safety protocols for workers dealing with chemicals and powder dust.
Ensure all workers use PPE (mask, gloves, apron, goggles).
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in pre-treatment and coating areas.
Follow statutory and environmental standards.
8. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain daily production reports, rejection records, and QC reports.
Record powder consumption, shade mixing details, and oven parameters.

Requirements

Knowledge of automated powder coating system , sparay guns , ovens and other related eqpt and its maintenance. Power mixing and its consumption ratio. ETP plant operation. Inspection and testing of coating. Coating standards & specifications. Effective material utilization & its reconcilation. Data analysys & its records.Trouble shooting and CAPA.
