JOB CONTENT
To lead, guide and direct the Design Department of the company by managing an integrated team of Designers, oversee and monitor the delivery of assigned jobs and ensuring timely and effective completion of all activities within the agreed timelines and guidelines set and followed by the company
2. Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic
1. Devise the strategic direction for the Design Unit ensure the unit uses the most effective, efficient and economically viable tactic for the betterment of the company.
2. Responsible for setting KPI’s for the unit on an annual basis considering the performance of the unit based on the previous year and monitor the KPI’s on a regular basis.
3. Represent Design unit during the annual review meetings, share performance reports with respect to Design, address and discuss key challenges of the unit.
4. Review procedures manual with respect to design procedures as and when required.
Financial
5. Manage the allocated unit budget for the department and ensure all the expenditures are being done within the budget which has been set
6. Responsible for preparation and finalization of Budget for R&D.
Operational
7. Conduct market research to understand latest Technology trends
8. Liaise with CMO/Customer, review tender details, specifications etc. participate in discussions for finalization of GTP and Design Outputs
9. Contribute to the preparation and submission of tenders by thoroughly understanding requirements
10. Coordinate with other departments such as Planning, Purchase & Production departments to finalize design and oversee BOM creation
11. Oversee the process of Preparation of detailed designs (mechanical & electrical) of distribution transformers up-to 10mVA class.
12. Oversee the preparation of manufacturing & electrical drawings and review and verify the electrical/mechanical outputs
13. Supervise preparation of purchase specifications and assistance to Purchase Department in Vendor evaluations.
14. Provide sound Technical assistance to the production and procurement departments during manufacturing.
15. Take sound decisions on deviations from design looking at various aspects, risks during manufacturing.
16. Carryout Root cause analysis, problem solving and continuous improvement of existing designs based on manufacturing or site feedbacks.
17. Contribute in development of new products in line with customer expectations, market intelligence and to increase competitiveness.

19. Lead department contribution to Voltamp Omanization targets through the setting of goals/KPIS in relation to the hiring and development of Omani Nationals into the workforce.
20. Embrace and drive continuous Human Capital improvements through business driven initiatives or as directed by Voltamp Corporate Office.
21. Complete all other tasks as requested by Management/Directors.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Education
- Graduate in Electrical
Experience
- 15 to 20 years of sound experience of handling Design Department in Manufacturing of Distribution Transformers industry including 05 to 10 years of Managerial experience in leading Design Department as the HOD.
